Born August 19, 1994 in London Ontario. Devan is of Ojibwe and Haudensaunee descent. Having apprenticed under designers, his dad and grand-father, Devan's work is inspired by Pow-wow themes and dances. Exposed to a wide array of Native artwork as a child, Devan has grown a great appreciation for indigenous colour schemes and line work. Focusing on simple yet insightful concepts in contemporary and traditional indigenous story-telling, Devan hopes to share a profound and uplifting message that is easy to understand in his work. Inspirations for his work include Walt Disney, Ken Sugimori (pokemon), and Banksy, as well as everyone on turtle island who expresses their culture boldly and profoundly enough through activism, dance, singing, sport, and style, to capture in essence and power as a single symbol or simple image.
